What are Community Navigators?

The Community Navigator Pilot Program is an American Rescue Plan initiative designed to reduce barriers that underepresented and underserved entrepreneurs often face in accessing the programs they need to recover, grow, or start their businesses.

The program will provide a total of $100 million in funding to 51 organizations that will work with hundreds of local community groups to improve access to SBA and government resources for America’s entrepreneurs.

Spoke of the Month

Business of the Month

Congratulations to Tracy McCullom of The Nolan Group, located in Baltimore, Maryland! The Nolan Group offers business, IT, and network consulting services and is a recent American Rescue Plan Act grant recipient through the City of Baltimore’s Business Development Corporation and with guidance from the Greater Baltimore Black Chamber of Commerce. Following consultations with the Greater Baltimore Black Chamber of Commerce, the Nolan Group crafted a solid budgeting and reporting proposal considered within their grant application. This grant will allow The Nolan Group to acquire additional equipment, software, and hardware to boost client engagement and business efficiency. Congratulations again on your nomination as our September Business of the Month!

Dr. Plummer - Mental Health Wellness Seminar

As a leading professional in the mental health field, Dr. LaNail R. Plummer and her team of 30 all Black/women of color, are committed to improving the lifestyles of others through the aspects of mental health and character development. A United States Military Veteran and the CEO of Onyx Therapy Group -- an organization she founded in 2013 -- Dr. Plummer has over 15 years of experience working with a multitude of clients, and specializing in the care of young women; the Black community; and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Her work and expertise has been featured in everything from Essence, NBC, Forbes, The Washingtonian and Time Magazine (among others), and she has spoken at conferences for Mental Health America, NYU, and the US Black Chambers of Commerce.

DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS

Alisa Joseph

Alisa serves as the liaison to the SBA Community Navigator Program, Chambers and staff to ensure that firms receive the resources needed to gain contracts and capital. She leads the USBC Hub efforts for the team.

PROGRAM MANAGER

Carl Davis, Jr.

As Program Manager, Carl is responsible for day-to-day management and identifying new opportunities for the spokes to expand the local ecosystem of technical assistance and access to capital services. This work provides much needed resources for businesses to help them grow in size and scale.

OUTREACH SPECIALIST

Warren Richard Jr.

As Outreach Specialist, coordinating resources and spoke activities helps to provide an ecosystem of service for Black businesses.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Lisa Carter

Lisa serves as the Navigator Program Coordinator, tracking and organizing Hub and spoke projects and deliverables.

OUTREACH SPECIALIST

Tiffany Mayes Eholor

Tiffany is the outreach specialist specific for the Navigator program. Tiffany is the point of contact for West and Mid-West Spokes.
